Flying with a purpose.... to bring Help and Hope to those in need.
Angel Flight June 4th 2017
Today we departed home base Luray and flew down to Asheville NC. There we met our 13 year old passenger Morgan…… with Morgan was her Mom, Grandmother, and two sisters (one being Morgan’s Twin) They were there to see her off. Flight conditions to Asheville started off as clear and very smooth, but once we got past Roanoke we started to go in and out of the clouds (clouds that were trying to grow up into thunderstorms) then as we approached Asheville we were in the vicinity of several storm cells with light rain, although the ride still was not that bad. We made a GPS LPV approach into Asheville landing on runway 17 in light rain.
After taking some pictures and Morgan giving her family goodbye we loaded up and departed Asheville heading for Greensboro NC (Morgan will be attending Victory Junction Camp for the week !….. Victory Junction Camp is a wonderful place sponsored by the Richard Petty Family). The ride to Greensboro also had some storm cells along the way but for the most part the ride was smooth and we believe Morgan enjoyed it. Once at Greensboro we were cleared for a visual approach to runway 14 ….. (They were using 23L but we requested and received 14 which got us to the FBO a little faster)…… after landing and entering the FBO we found out that we were the first to arrive, so we waited for the Victory Junction Bus and the other campers that would be arriving. After everyone arrived we had some good conversations and saw them off to their fun week at Victory Junction !
Our flight back home also had some storm cells dancing close by but they did not present us with any issues. Back at home base we landed on runway 22….. then after tucking 49Bravo into her hanger we enjoyed our traditional nice cup of hot coffee and discussed the events of the day……. then we would soon be starting one of the most dangerous parts of our day…. the ride back home !
Following are some photos of the day…….
Please feel free to leave Comments……. we love them !
