Captain John’s legacy continues… Double Angel Flight Mission completed safely on Thursday, June 9th!

This was my first Angel Flights since Captain John passed away, the emotions were all over the place, but total focus was on the missions… I am sure Captain John was a smiling!

Angel Flight Mission 1 was from home base Luray, down to Williamsburg/Jamestown, then up to Manassas.

Angel Flight Mission 2 was the reverse, Manassas to Williamsburg/Jamestown, then back to home base.

Our passenger was Stuart, a Navy Veteran, receiving service dog training.

This flight is usually two separate missions, one to take Stuart for the training, then another to return him home once finished. But it worked out very well for us to wait for him at Manassas while he attended his training, that way, we could complete both missions.

The total flight time was 5 hours which covered 476nm. It was a great day to fly, with two words describing the overall conditions (Gusty Winds)!

A great big thank you to my friend, Karen Culpepper, for flying along as my flight assistant. I feel that part of carrying on Captain John’s legacy is to mentor other pilots just as he did for me through the past many years. I believe that John would truly be happy knowing that 49Bravo is back in the air doing what he loved so much!

It was great meeting Stuart, and we hope to fly him again. We also met his wife and two little boys, 3 and 6, at Williamsburg, where they were waiting to see him off (they loved looking at 49Bravo)!

A great big thank you to everyone for following me in this adventure of carrying on Captain John’s legacy, it means a lot to me, and I know the Captain is smiling!

Have a great day!
