Todays flight started us rolling down runway 22 at 0700 from our home base Luray Virginia. After lift off we turned 49Bravo toward the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains on a heading direct to Chesterfield County (Richmond VA) to pick up our passenger Diana. Crossing the Blue Ridge Mountains is always awe inspiring but this early morning crossing was even more so with the low angel of the morning sun casting shadows in such a way that just made the mountains even more majestic (Check out our link below to view our flight video and fly over the mountains with us !) The ride to Richmond was for the most part very smooth with a slight tailwind component. At Richmond we met Diana with her wonderful smile and exchanged our greetings (we have flown Diana many times before) Once loaded up we departed Richmond heading to Martin State (Baltimore MD) where Diana had her medical appointment scheduled….. flight conditions were very smooth with some nice tailwinds, visibility was fairly good with quite a lot of haze. This is always a scenic route taking us over several rivers and a lot of the Chesapeake Bay (including the Twin Bay Bridges) After landing at Martin Field (which by the way is a very historical airport and in a very scenic area) we saw Diana off in her taxi heading to her appointment. (This completed Angel Flight Mission One of the Day)…… now we waited at Martin Field for Diana to return so that we could fly her back home…..about 4-5 hours later Diana returned and we departed Martin Field headed back to Richmond. Flight conditions once again were very smooth with a slight headwind. We enjoyed good conversation with Diana and before too long we were landing back at Chesterfield County in Richmond. (This completed Angel Flight Mission Two of the Day)…..after saying our goodbyes and giving/getting some great hugs, we departed Richmond headed back to home base Luray….. ride was still smooth with very little winds and as always the scenery was beautiful. So after departing home base 10 hours earlier we landed back on runway 22 and tucked 49Bravo back into her hanger (thanking her for the great job she had done)….. by the way, if you didn’t know, 49Bravo is our Airplane !
Total flight time for today was 4.3 hours covering 468 nautical miles over 2 States.
We would like to say a Great Big Thank You to Diana for spoiling us with some wonderful Goodies and very nice Thank You Cards….. looking forward to our next flight together with you !
