Captain John goes to Washington

On Friday, November 5th, Captain John was interviewed in Washington DC by “Veterans Chronicles” Veterans Chronicles is an hour-long program that tells the stories of America’s greatest heroes in their own words. Captain John’s interview focused on one of the most daring and successful covert missions of WWII, Operation Greenup, of which he was the Command Pilot chosen to fly a blackened B24 across enemy lines at night, inserting three secret agents.
He was also on an afternoon panel speaking to a large group of Cadets. Many amazing WWII Veterans were there doing the same thing during the day at different times. How amazing it is to hear their stories!
This was all part of the 2021 Veterans Conference & Honors… and National Youth Leadership Summit, held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington DC.
What an honor it is for me to accompany Captain John on these adventures. We did not even need to drive, a Limo came and picked us up!
When video of these events becomes available, I will post a link to them.

Have a Great Day!

  1. It is indeed remarkable that our Captain can still be doing all this at 98. Thursday – 11-11-11, I will be putting up a flag at Lewes, Delaware to honor all veterans. The Rotary Club has about 275 flags already standing.
